1940年代のアメリカで生産されていたヴィンテージデニムジャケットを参考に、当時のデザインや縫製仕様、独特の素材感を再現したモデルです。

1940年代、現在では一般的に「ジージャン」と呼ばれるデニムジャケットは、当時「デニムブラウス」とも呼ばれていました。その特徴のひとつであるフロントプリーツのデザインには、19世紀のワークウェアの名残が見られます。

当時のデニムは防縮加工が施されていないものが多く、洗濯によって大きく縮む性質がありました。19世紀には、生地を横方向に使用して縫製し、洗濯後に縮んだ際にはプリーツ部分をほどくことで身幅を広げられるように考えられていたともいわれています。

その後、生地を縦方向に使用する仕様へと変化してからも、フロントプリーツのデザインは受け継がれ、ヴィンテージデニムジャケットを象徴するディテールのひとつとなりました。

素材には、1940年代のヴィンテージデニムを研究して開発した、orSlowオリジナルのデニムを使用しています。

1940年代以前のデニムには、1950年代以降のデニムと比較して、縦方向に長く現れる不規則なムラが見られる傾向があります。この違いには、当時の綿花の収穫方法や紡績技術などが関係しているとも考えられますが、明確な理由は分かっていません。

orSlow 6011では、こうした1940年代のヴィンテージデニム特有の長い縦ムラに着目し、他のオリジナルデニムとは異なる独特の表情を持つ生地を採用しています。 自然で不規則な縦ムラが、当時のデニムならではの奥行きのある風合いを生み出しています。

また、サイズ3以上には、背面の中心に接ぎ目を設けた「Tバック仕様」を採用しています。

これは、大きなサイズのジャケットを生産する際、生地幅の制約がある中で効率よく裁断するために用いられていたと考えられる、ヴィンテージ特有のディテールです。限られた素材を無駄なく使用していた時代のものづくりを感じさせる仕様となっています。

1940年代のデニムジャケットが持つ歴史的なディテールと、当時の長い縦ムラを再現したオリジナルデニムを組み合わせ、生地から縫製仕様に至るまでヴィンテージの魅力を追求した、orSlowならではのTYPE 1 DENIM JACKETです。

Inspired by vintage American denim jackets from the 1940s, the orSlow 6011 faithfully recreates the distinctive design, construction details, and fabric character of denim workwear from that era.

During the 1940s, what we commonly refer to today as a "denim jacket" or "jean jacket" was also known as a "denim blouse." One of its most recognizable features, the front pleats, has its origins in workwear designs dating back to the 19th century.

In those days, denim was often produced without sanforization, making it prone to significant shrinkage after washing. It is said that some early garments were constructed with the fabric positioned horizontally, allowing the front pleats to be released to compensate for shrinkage and increase the width of the garment.

Although fabric cutting methods eventually changed, the front pleats remained as a distinctive design feature, becoming one of the most recognizable details of traditional denim jackets.

The fabric used for the orSlow 6011 is our original denim, carefully developed through the study of authentic vintage denim from the 1940s.

Denim from the 1940s and earlier often displays longer, more pronounced vertical irregularities compared to denim produced during the 1950s and later. These differences may be related to changes in cotton harvesting methods and spinning techniques, although the exact reasons remain uncertain.

For the orSlow 6011, we paid particular attention to these distinctive long vertical slubs, selecting an original denim fabric that captures the unique character of 1940s vintage denim. The naturally irregular vertical texture creates a rich, authentic appearance that sets it apart from our other original denim fabrics.

Another distinctive feature is the T-back construction, used in sizes 3 and above.

This design features a center seam on the back panel, a detail believed to have originated from the need to make efficient use of limited fabric widths when producing larger sizes. It reflects the practical construction methods of an era when materials were carefully utilized with minimal waste.

Combining the authentic construction details of 1940s denim jackets with original denim developed to reproduce the distinctive long vertical slubs of that period, the orSlow 6011 reflects our dedication to capturing the character and craftsmanship of vintage American workwear.
